Construction Update: Scaffolding Comes Down at the La Costa Family Apartments

Construction at the La Costa Family Apartments, Carlsbad’s newest affordable housing community, continues to move forward. This week, crews removed the exterior scaffolding—revealing the building’s completed façade — and made significant progress on site utilities. Teams installed new electrical conduit and are trenching for the natural gas lines that will serve the development.

Inside the units, flooring installation is complete, and kitchen cabinetry is in place. Next, our team will install the countertops, appliances, and plumbing fixtures as we push toward the finish line.

Carlsbad’s Newest Affordable Housing Community Nearing Completion

The La Costa Family Apartments is a 19-unit Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) development located at the intersection of La Costa Avenue and Camino de las Coches in Carlsbad, California. Developed in partnership with MirKa Investments, LLC, the community offers one-to-three-bedroom rental apartments across three floors, including three ADA-compliant units designed for accessibility.

The community will serve households earning 30%, 50%, 60%, and 80% of the area median income (AMI) or below, expanding access to safe, high-quality affordable housing in North County.

We anticipate completion in early Spring 2026 as the project enters its final phases.
